Various factors play a role in the selection of the filter insert
Convenience : The higher the flow rate of the filter insert, the faster a glass, carafe or saucepan will be filled.
Line pressure: If the line pressure is low (less than 3 bar), a filter insert should be selected that offers a relatively high flow rate and can therefore be used well even at low water pressure.
Household size : If more than two people live in the household, we recommend a filter insert with a fast water flow.
Hygiene requirements : filter inserts with a second filter stage in the form of hollow fiber membranes filter particularly fine and thus offer greater reliability when filtering bacteria (microfiltration 0.15 μm) or viruses (ultrafiltration 0.02 μm). Filter inserts with hollow fiber membranes are particularly useful if the filter system is regularly exposed to temperatures of more than 25 ° C.
Filter overview
Higher quality filter inserts offer an expanded range of effects through the use of additional materials or a second filter stage.
Filter inserts with the addition “CLC” also contain a ceramic limescale protection granulate inside the filter insert. These granules convert water-soluble calcium bicarbonate Ca (HCO3) 2 into insoluble calcium carbonate crystals CaCO3. The calcium carbonate crystals float in the water and do not form limescale deposits. For this physical limescale protection, neither substances are released into the water, nor are minerals filtered out. The “lime” stays in the water and only changes its structure.
The limescale protection granulate is not used up within the specified service life of six months, since it is a purely catalytic process of limescale conversion. The effectiveness can vary depending on the individual water composition.
As a result, there are significantly fewer residues on fittings, tiles, etc. and the lime deposits on surfaces are less stubborn. Any deposits that have formed can therefore be removed more easily and the cleaning effort is reduced. Household appliances (kettles, coffee machines, etc.) are also protected.
Filter inserts with hollow fiber membranes contain a second filter stage inside the filter insert for even finer filtering of the water. The hollow fiber membranes consist of a bundle of thin tubes in which the water is passed through extremely fine filter pores (0.15 μm = microfiltration). For comparison: a human hair is around 100 μm in diameter.
With these filter inserts, the activated carbon block is made with slightly larger pores, which offer a significantly faster water flow and a correspondingly higher level of comfort.
